Tossing Hats at Graduation Ceremony

Many students toss their graduation hats into the air when the ceremony is over in celebration. With some schools, this is a tradition. This is fine, but . . . how do you find your hat afterwards? The graduation hat tossing is a spontaneous gesture and is not rehearsed or choreographed and is repeated each year as a tradition. Since this is usually done at all graduation ceremonies, the school usually does not condone the practice, but neither do the endorse the practice.

Graduation ceremonies can be a solemn occasion or time for celebration. Some students really care about their graduation day and its memories. Others could care less and can't wait to exit the graduation ceremonies and go on. Some return regularly to class reunions. Others never attend. Many successful people today say they had a hard time in school. Others say they were class presidents and cheerleaders and popular. School memories are cherished by some and forgotten by others. It's the best of times or the worst of times.
