The Valedictorian is the person who is the graduating student with the highest scholastic grades. This may be determined by tests or by a voting of the student body or in some other fashion, depending on the school's customs. However, the most widely used manner for selecting the valedictorian is the graduating student with the highest grade point average (GPA).

The Valedictorian typically delivers a speech at the graduation ceremonies on behalf of his/her fellow classmates.
