Kindergarten – Preschool Graduation Announcements, Kindergarten – Preschool Graduation Invitations
| The word "kindergarten" means "children's garden" and refers to the first
level of education according to the k-12 educational system. The first
kindergarten was opened in 1837. Children, usually between the ages of four to
six attend kindergarten to learn more about meeting friends, professional
authority (in the form of teachers), playtime, naptime, drawing, music, the
basic of reading and writing and various other activities. Kindergarten is
usually administered in an elementary school, a church setting or an organized
group. |
| Some people, especially those individuals without preschool or kindergarten
age children might proclaim, "graduation ceremony for preschool / kindergartens
. . . for preschool / kindergartens?" with amazement! This comment seems to
always be made by those who have not experienced a child completing preschool or
kindergarten and moving on to the next educational stage in their young
life. |
| The word "graduation" denotes the idea of completion, a task accomplished, or
an academic degree earned. Graduates are thought to be individuals who are
prepared to move into the larger world, leaving the security of educational
institutions. When applied to children who are 4, 5, or 6 years old, this term
seems oddly out of place. We think of young children as just beginning their
quest, ready to take their first steps into the arena of formal education. Why,
then, every spring, do preschool and kindergarten graduation ceremonies abound?. |
